Your Sparkle Is Seen
This week, while entirely focused on my groceries a kiddo… maybe 10ish stopped me to compliment my hair. Their eyes were wide in awe. My heart giggled and there was a sparkle in the air.
I remember staring at teenagers like that as a child.. they were just hanging out in front of 711 dressed as punks and signaling that little bit of queerness. I was amazed. Suddenly, more options existed. My path existed!
Every time I see kiddos eyes light up I am grateful I got to have that too. I’m sure those teens found some inspiration somewhere, even if just with each other.
Some days, it feels like the world is so full of hate (and there is plenty of it!) and then I’m reminded how much any act of resistance matters. I know things are hard lately. Nothing can make it all better. Yet, you continuing to exist authentically counts. It is changing the world, it did for me as a kid, teen, young adult and does now.
