Palestinian Joy
Hope has been difficult lately.
Palestine matters and the people deserve to be free.
I feel out of place participating in the conversation as a white person with little experience in the area. I feel guilt not saying anything as a Metis person living on Turtle Island where colonization killed so many. It feels like “cool, I’ll post on social media and it won’t change anything but I can feel good about myself.”
I find myself thinking a lot about hope. Every time I’ve really changed my mind on something it was because of connection and joy. I went vegan because of seeing cows play and finding community, I quit veganism when I couldn’t eat Bannock and connect with amazing people. I also think Indigenous people and their culture survive somewhat from righteous beautiful anger but also by loving each other fully despite violence, hate and brainwashing.
I realized I want to commit this year to exploring hope and joy.
Starting with sharing what I can find with Palestinian joy.
